30th Leica Oskar Barnack Award Gets Underway



Are you a photographer ready to enter a popular contest? Well what are you waiting for? The 30th Leica Oskar Barnack Award is getting ready to find new winners. And since this year is a special year, the Leica Camera AG has revised the entry conditions and there are various changes.

Entries for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award/Newcomers Award 2009 will be accepted online between 15 January and 1 March 2009. The Newcomers Award will be given this year for the first time. All photographers below the age of 25 are welcome to participate.

The photographer has to capture the relationship between man and the environment in the most graphic form in a sequence of up to 12 images. An international jury will judge everyone’s submissions and establish the winner.

The winner will receive 5,000 Euro or Leica camera equipment to the same value. The Newcomer Award will get 2,500 Euro. The prizes will be presented in the course of the Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie photographic festival held in Arles, France.
