Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 Camera Review–Not Just Tough
You don’t hear much about “tough” cameras these days, which is why I was definitely surprised to lay hands on the oddly (but aptly) named Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 camera, which we talked about here on Friday. So how tough is it? Let’s have a look.
The Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 is a fourteen megapixel camera that offers both 5x digital AND 5x optical zoom, a 2.7 inch HyperCrystal III LCD monitor (which if nothing else SOUNDS awesome), a TruePic III image processor, dual image stabilization, face detection, an array of scene and white balance modes, a variety of auto focus capabilities (iESP, AF Tracking and spot auto, which is more than I’ve heard from most) burst mode shooting, auto flash, USB port, and a whopping six hundred thirty two meg of onboard memory.
As for the “tough” part, the Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 is supposedly designed to be resistant to water, shock, dust, and even freezing temperatures, which makes it something of a rarity as far as cameras go. And while I certainly wouldn’t want to push my luck in terms of dropping a camera and such, it’s good to know that there’s at least some reinforcement. But there’s no denying that this sucker offers plenty of features, great zoom, and in general, lots to like with a great control design and some extra robustness for folks on the go. And at three hundred dollars at Best Buy, even the price isn’t so bad.
If you’re someone who needs a camera in a lot of different places, well, then the Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 is a camera you should definitely have a look at.
