A Head-Mounted Display That Operates A Video Camera Remotely
Recently, a very interesting piece of technology was developed at the University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo. A unique device called the Mobile Video Communication System was created as a head-mounted display that operates a video camera remotely. The camera will adjust and re-position itself accordingly in response to the head movements of the display’s user.
Researcher Satoshi Nariai believes that making eye contact with other people is vital for effective communication and the head-mounted display is specifically intended for video conferencing. However, this begs the following question: How can you make eye contact with another person if you’re both wearing this head-mounted display? I have to wonder if the research team at University of Electro-Communications ever considered that possible issue as they were developing the device, which could be impressive anyway.
