A Whole Slew Of Traffic Cameras Going In Nationwide
Now, normally, in these sections I might bring up a new city or two, in the case of neighbors, that’s getting in the traffic cameras, and lead in a discussion on people’s reaction to these Orwellian monitors. But today’s a bit different–we always like to mix it up around here. But anyway, here’s the deal–seems that in the last couple days, a LOT of new cities have announced plans to put in red light cameras. Cities like:
Rochester, New York
Virginia, Minnesota
Kingsport, Virginia
Oakland, California
What is up with this recent influx? Four in the space of a weekend? And a holiday weekend, no less? Were these municipalities hoping to sneak it in under the radar? We all know that New York and California both have serious budget trouble, but I didn’t think Minnesota and Virginia were in the same kind of dire straits.
It doesn’t bode well, folks…it doesn’t bode well.
