Brainport Allows Users to See via the Tongue



There have been a lot of devices developed to somehow aid the blind to see. Now, there is something being wooed as the next great aid for the people with seeing problems in the form of the BrainPort.

The BrainPort decodes signals sent from a camera mounted on a person’s head. These signals or electrical impulses are sent to the person’s tongue wherein the spatial awareness provides a person the ability to read text.

At the moment this device is awaiting FDA approval and should be available next year if it passes. As far as pricing is concerned, the estimated retail price for this device is expected to be in the $10,000 range.
