Broadcom to make new processor
Broadcam, a semiconductor company, has recently come up with some new processor, the BCM2763 Videocore IV, that can do some pretty amazing things.
For example, it can allow a camera phone to take full 1080p HD video footage with up to 20 Megapixels. It can also do multiple shots per second, face and smile detection, image stabilization, as well as panorama mode. It can also render some mobile games at 1080p on an HDMI output.
So it looks like we are looking at a future where our cellular phone cameras are getting as advanced as camcorders.
