Canon USA is reportedly set to open a new $640 million manufacturing plant in Newport News, Va that will also bring 1,000 potential new jobs to the area. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony and facility tours for the 700,000 square foot manufacturing facility today from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.

This is certain to be great news for locals of the region to provide new hope for the people who have been laid off due to downsizing efforts by other companies. There will be a press conference that will include Governor Timothy M. Kaine; Mr. Joe Adachi, President & CEO of Canon U.S.A.; Mr.Takayoshi Hanagata, President & CEO of Canon Virginia; local government officials; and company executives.
