Canon Powershot SD1200IS Camera Review–More Fun With Color Changes

Chalk one up for the crew who believes that multiple camera colors are a sign of a lousy camera to come, because the Canon Powershot SD1200IS definitely qualifies as a lower-end camera.

The Canon Powershot SD1200IS is a ten megapixel camera with a 3x optical zoom, a 2.5 inch LCD screen, face detection systems, self-timer, and compatibility with SD/SDHC, MMC, MMC Plus and HC MMC Plus memory cards.

It may have a 3x optical zoom, but I had a bear of a time just trying to find the control for it.  I hate it when you have no choice but to consult a manual to operate a camera’s simplest features, but after turning that camera over and looking at each vertice three times, I still couldn’t find the zoom control and was left to consult the manual.  That’s just not right–zoom should be either clearly labeled or easily accessible.  I should never have to hunt around for something as simple as that.

And yes, the Canon Powershot SD1200IS does come in a variety of colors, which makes it all the more sad, in all honesty–this should have been a better camera.  I don’t know what went so badly wrong with it.
