Canon SD3500 Camera Review–A Pricey But Magnificent PowerShot
Canon has provided a lot of amazing cameras in their time–and their time has been pretty long as far as cameras go. They’ve been in on cameras almost since the beginning, and it shows throughout their PowerShot line. Today we’ll be talking about the Canon SD3500, a fine if pricey example.
The Canon SD3500 is a fourteen megapixel digital camera with a 5x optical zoom and augmenting 4x digital zoom, a whopping three and a half inch PureColor System LCD monitor, DIGIC 4 image processor, face detection technology, motion detection AND blink detection technologies, optical image stabilizer, a variety of shooting and white balance modes, the Smart AUTO mode that automatically selects optimal settings for every shot, a through-the-lens autofocus, burst shooting mode, built-in auto flash, support for both Secure Digital and MultiMediaCard slots, direct printing and a USB connection.
Pretty much everything you could want–and several things you probably didn’t even know existed–is in this camera, and it’s even slightly wider than the ordinary to make button access a little easier. This probably has something to do with the three and a half inch screen, something I personally hadn’t seen on a camera recently.
The downside here, of course, is the price tag. This monster weighs in at three hundred and thirty bucks, which is huge as far as compact digital cameras go. I’ve seen DSLRs that only cost a bit more than that and come with a whole lot more. But still, if you’re in the market for a new camera and you’re not afraid of a pretty big price tag, then you’ll definitely in the right ballpark with the Canon SD3500.
