Canon Sets Its Sights On Launching Smaller Pro Cameras

Well, Canon is certainly feeling the pressure to stay competitive since the release of mirrorless, interchangeable lens cameras from several of the other big names in digital imaging technology. According to image group leader Masaya Maeda, the company is preparing to launch smaller pro cameras to strengthen their presence in the consumer market.

Considering the recent cameras released by brands like Sony and Olympus, Canon does have reason to fear falling behind in the camera industry if they don’t take action soon. However, Maeda did not confirm whether or not the company would employ the usual mirror method or abandon it altogether and Nikon will facing a similar situation in this competitive market. Thus, we’ll see how these two companies choose to compete against the mirrorless, interchangeable lens trend in the months to come.
