Canon Rebel XTi DSLR Review
The Canon EOS Rebel XTi or the Canon D400 has been reviewed by Cnet and lets see what the experts there have to say. The DSLR scored brownie points for small and lightweight body; its fast and intuitive response and also found the layout to be user-friendly. What they didn’t like was the lack of spot metering , the elimination of the second status LCD, its slow kit lens and also its poor performance in low-lit conditions.
The Canon Rebel XTi is the latest from the Canon stables and can give the Nikon D80 a run for its money. With a resolution of 10.1 megapixel, a 2.5 inch LCD and a redesigned Canon CMOS sensor; the 400D is ideal for ‘photo hobbyists, enthusiasts, advanced amateurs and SLR aficionados’ according to Canon. The 400D like all the older Canon models is outfitted with a anon’s standard EOS EF lens mount. Thus the DSLR is compatible with EF lenses as well as the EF-S line of lenses. The DSLR comes bundled with utility programs and Canon's Digital Photo Professional software (presently in version 2.2) via which tasks like RGB image editing functions, image noise reduction, viewing, processing and editing of RAW images, Direct Print functions are a breeze.
Cnet concludes "The Canon EOS Rebel XTi remains a very good first dSLR, but ultimately a disappointing followup to the XT, which cedes its lead to the Nikon D80."
