Chevy Chase Has Your Number, Speeder

It used to be that, in Chevy Chase, you could buck the law as long as you were in a sufficiently large group.  They had speed cameras, but the cameras would snap a picture of whatever was in front of it.  If there were two, three, or more cars, it was impossible to tell which car did the speeding, so they’d have to throw the entire matter out.

But now, Chevy Chase has the means to permanently take care of speeders–laser speed cameras. Check THIS out:

Laser speed cameras are common in Europe, but the majority of speed cameras used in this region, and most of the United States, employ radar to trigger the shutter. Whatever is going too fast — a bird, a plane, Superman or a Subaru — gets its picture taken. The laser camera, however, will tell you how fast each is going.

So now, if you’re in a group of cars going the speed limit except for one guy, the speed camera will be able to differentiate between them all.  Of course, if Chevy Chase or Maryland state law has traffic laws involving “keeping up with the flow of traffic” this could prove to be a catch-22.  Or, alternatively, where everyone’s speeding they’ll just declare that no one is and toss it out like they’re doing now.
