Coby DP5588 Digital Photo Frame Review–Weird Enough To Love

Today we’re going to take a look at one of the oddest little digital photo frames I’ve seen in quite some time, the Coby DP5588.

The Coby DP5588 is a 5.6 inch LCD digital photo frame that plays MP3 files and VMA files, as well as displaying your photo albums in slideshow form.  It offers compatibility with several different memory card formats, including CompactFlash, Secure Digital and Memory Stick, along with a USB port for portable hard drives.

Right now you’re probably looking at me askance right now, wondering what my problem is because, clearly, this isn’t a strange digital photo frame at ALL.  In fact, if anything, it just seems a bit underpowered.  There’s no onboard memory, and that’s odd, but the frame itself appears to be in decent shape.  Well, you haven’t heard the weird part yet–check out that photo.  That is a built in clock you’re looking at on the left side of that fold-out.  Most digital photo frames are one unit–this is actually two on a hinge.

The frame’s performance is decent enough, and the aesthetics are a little weird but well within accessibility standards.  And considering you can get this for just thirty three dollars right now at Best Buy (marked down from a hundred and thirty, if you can believe that!), you might just find the Coby DP5588 just weird enough to love.
