Hello again, dear readers. As you know, we live in the age of the digital camera in today’s society. All the while, big names in photograph and imaging technology like Canon, Nikon and Fuji continue to offer newer, more advanced point and shoot machines to work their way into our hearts and wallets. But as responsible consumers, we want more bang for our buck. In other words, those of us who want new cameras are looking for the best digital image-capturing devices available at an affordable price. With that said, Digital Camera Resource Page apparently decided to help us by creating the 2010 Budget Camera Shootout.

Furthermore, this shootout was made to test eight digital cameras, each from different brands and determine which one among them would be the most desirable for consumers on a budget. The selection process for the eight cameras involved choosing devices in the $150 to $180 range with small cases and 4 or 5x zoom lenses. Some of the cameras chosen for the 2010 Budget Camera Shootout were the Olympus FE-4030, Samsung SL600, and Canon SD1300. Now I have to say “SPOILER ALERT” because the winner has already been declared and I’m here to tell you who it is. This champion among digital cameras who rose above the other seven contenders to be crowned as the best camera on a budget is none other than the Canon SD1300, also known as the PowerShot! This story came to us, courtesy of Engadget but unfortunately, they didn’t give information concerning rankings for the other seven cameras of the 2010 Budget Camera Shootout. Nonetheless, you can now keep the PowerShot in mind as you consider what digital image devices you should be shopping for if you’re on a budget this summer.
