DXG has just announced the launch of a new line of video cameras called the Sportster series. These are water-resistant cameras with high definition capability. The camera shown above has the standard design of a camcorder and yet it shoots 1080p video and still operates at least ten feet when submerged below the water. This device features a “Dive” button, which triggers the lenses instantly to self-adjust for capturing colors and conditions underwater.

Furthermore, the Sportster camera’s also packing 12 mega-pixels for stills, USB/AV and HDMI outputs and 128MB of built-in storage. Of course, you can use an SD/SDHC card with up to at least 32GB for additional memory as well. The first Sportster HD Video Camera is available for $169.99. DXG also intends to release a model with pistol-grip functionality but haven’t set a date for it yet.
