Flip M2120M Camcorder Review–Poor Value Shooting
Just yesterday you saw me tackle one of those portable little camcorders, and today, you’ll see me do it again with the Flip Video M2120M. Flip video cameras haven’t fared too well in my estimation for being often overpriced and underpowered, but will this one break the streak?
The Flip Video M2120M offers a two inch LCD display with antiglare coating, an onboard eight gig hard drive for two hours of 720p video, immediate compatibility with most of the popular applications like Windows Media Player and iTunes, an HDMI output for quick watching on your home television, a flip-out USB arm, and included software for easy uploading of videos.
Admittedly, this isn’t a bad spec list. And the controls are sufficiently simple, again owing to the relatively small size. But considering that the folks out at Best Buy are looking to pull in a whopping one hundred eighty four bucks for this thing–and that’s a sale price, no less!–I just can’t say this is a good deal.
Portability is simply not worth fifty bucks or more. I’ve seen camcorders easily the equal of this–easily superior to this!–sell for substantially less. And so there’s not any way I can reasonably recommend the Flip M2120M. It may be portable, but I’ve even seen better portables. Go with the full sized camcorder; you’ll get more for the price.
