Frozen Kodak To Dethrone Sir Edmund Hillary?

Let this serve as both a testament to the sheer power of the photograph and an incredible endorsement for Kodak, because this is going to blow your MIND.

Back in 1929, a couple guys named George Mallory and Andrew Irvine took a run at climbing Everest, but it’s commonly held that they didn’t make it, clearing the way for Edmund Hillary to make his attempt that ultimately succeeded in conquering Everest.

Fast forward seventy years to 1999, when an expedition found Mallory’s body…but not Irvine’s.  Irvine was believed to have gone up Everest with a Vest Pocket Kodak camera borrowed from another member of the expedition who remained behind.

Due to the thinness of the air and the low temperatures, it’s actually possible–just barely possible, mind you–that the Vest Pocket Kodak has survived all this time and may have the photographic evidence necessary to crown a NEW king of Everest.

Of course, developing that film would require a laundry list of special procedures that have already been engineered.  An expedition is being prepared to try and recover that camera, and if successful, it may change history.
