3D technology is now invading the web camera market as Hammacher Schelmmer unveils The Only 3D Web Camera. It is armed with dual cameras that record a stereoscopic image similar to what is being used in 3D movies. The produced video is compatible with most Internet messaging services. This new 3D camera is compatible with most PCs via the traditional USB support and can be used in the way that a normal web cam would be.

“A person needs nothing more than traditional 3D cyan/red glasses to see 3D images and videos of himself or of others,” explained Hammacher Schlemmer’s General Manager, Fred Berns. “It’s as if you’re coming out of the monitor.”

The Only 3D Web Camera can capture videos at 800 x 600 resolution at 15 frames per second. It can also focus in up to 12″ away for dramatic 3D images. The camera also comes with picture-in-picture videos-displaying two separate images on the same screen. If you want to chat in 2D or your viewing party doesn’t have 3D glasses, simply switch to 2D mode.

Purchasing this camera includes sets of 3D glasses. The Only 3D Web Camera is available from Hammacher Schlemmer for $99.95.
