Hasselblad H2D-39
Ask any photography buff, their ultimate object of desire and the name Hasselblad will surely come up. The ultimate name in film photography, this prestigious brand is taking the digital road quite successfully. Now recently they just announced the latest in the digital medium format H-series, the H2D-39, a medium-format camera with a 36.7 x 49.0 mm 39-megapixel sensor. This dream machine is targeted at the serious photographers and carries a heavy price tag of $29,995.
The H2D-39 is a 39-megapixel imaging device where the RAW file hits about 78 megabytes uncompressed which reduces to 50 MB thanks to lossless compression .It features Hasselblad's patented HB RGB color profile, and the latest 3FR RAW file format. According to the company users can fit about 1500 shots in the 80 GB HD and the camera can write to formats like Compact Flash cards, a Firewire 800 drive, or to a computer in tethered mode. It also includes the exclusive Hasselblad's Flexcolor software, and a utility to convert from 3FR to Adobe DNG, the “open” RAW format.
Hasselblad has cordial relationships both Apple and Adobe and according to sources will support both Apple's Aperture software and Adobe's Light room. Other exciting features includes “Digital APO Correction,” to correct color aberration, “Instant Approval Architecture,” which alerts the photographer to issues with images as they are recorded, IAA monitors exposure, , and records a rating in metadata and the file name, as a tool for image management.
