HD in DSLR’s

When you watch a video recorded by an average digital photo camera on a big-screen TV what you most often see is a disappointing grainy, jerky image with poor sound quality that makes the whole experience even worse. Now, digital camera makers such as Nikon Corp and Canon Inc are changing this unfortunate fact by adding high-definition video capabilities to their digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras. The new DSLR cameras lack some crucial features of a camcorder but they do include chips for large, high-resolution images and because of this innovation, they can shoot video that looks good on a large TV screen.

Some recent DSLR models that offer high-definition (HD) video include Nikon’s D90 and Canon’s 5D Mark II. Manufacturers such as Fujifilm are also working on more compact cameras with HD video. Taking great short videos with a DSLR camera is the modern equivalent of the “home movies” of the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. Expect more of these features on future DSLR models, and when shopping for a DLSR camera for the first time, take the extra time to make sure the model you are purchasing contains the new, most innovative chips.
