Infinite Photograph
National Geographic Digital Media (NGDM) has launched Infinite Photograph, a Web 2.0 photography mosaic application that will permit users to interact with shared online photographs by clicking on color patterns to create countless stunning mosaics in an assortment of themes. The Infinite Photograph digital mosaic is composed of 200 to 500 photographs picked from National Geographic’s user-generated My Shot photography database.
NGDM will come out with more functionality for Infinite Photograph over the coming months, including features that allow users to select search terms from the whole My Shot database of tagged photos, construct Infinite Photographs from their own catalog of digital photography and interact with the program through social networking sites such as Facebook. The first Infinite Photograph theme debuted April 15 at www.ngm.com/infinite, sporting mosaics created from user-submitted photos of nature as part of National Geographic’s My Shot “As Seen on Earth” hub.
