Infrared Camera Saves Lives Again In Treasure Coast Fire
The FLIR camera, which we’ve previously discussed, has saved lives in the past, and now down in Florida, it had a chance to do so again. Out on a place called the Treasure Coast, there was an apartment fire. Six families called the building home, and earlier yesterday a fire burst out somewhere in the building. The families got out, but no one knew where the fire was. Previously, the only way to find out where a fire was was to go floor by floor, sending firefighters into harm’s way to find it by sight.
Now, thanks to the infrared camera, they can look for hot spots in a building before even sending a single person into the building. The cameras, as we remember, is actually sensitive enough to spot human body heat, so you know that for a fire, they do just fine.
It’s an excellent use of camera technology, and considering how many lives it’s saved so far, it can only get better.
