Insignia RFA-NS-DV1080P Camcorder Review–Only Good If You’re On A Budget

I’m normally not fond of pistol-grip cameras, and you’ll see exactly why with the Insignia RFA-NS-DV1080P.  In fact, this representative of Best Buy’s house brand has only one redeeming feature, and you’ll see just what that is in a second.

The Insignia RFA-NS-DV1080P is a five megapixel camcorder that offers a 4x digital zoom in 720p mode, a three inch LCD display, digital image stabilization, low-light shooting capability, ninety megs of onboard memory with support for Secure Digital memory cards, a USB port, A/V connection, HDMI port, and included editing software. It also comes with a pouch.

The zoom is short (less than fifty feet from what I can tell), the pictures aren’t the greatest and the whole thing is packed into this tiny and tough to manipulate pistol grip environment. In fact, the only thing that makes this thing even vaguely worth considering, at least as far as I’m concerned, is a shockingly low seventy dollar price tag.

If you need a cheap and functional camcorder, you may want a look at the Insignia RFA-NS-DV1080P.  Otherwise, shell out the extra cash for something a little more robust.
