Is the WVIL real after all?
Some of you might remember when we reported on the WVIL at CES. I heard from my Source at the time that it was a fake.
Perhaps that Source or me misunderstood what the WVIL is, or this is a different WVIL. Perhaps it is the lesser of two WVILs. Anyway, my current Source states that the WVIL camera is a camera model that allows the user “to shoot pictures even though the lens is separated from the camera body”.
It apparently has another goal that allows the WVIL “to have a pro-level digital camera with smartphone functionality”. The company that makes this product, Artefact, seems to imagine users able to have apps and guides written by expert photographers and possibly exchange shooting styles with other photographers.
So, is this WVIL a legit thing? Is it possible to put all the functionality of a camera in a lens? I don’t see why not, and I can’t wait until my next post about the WVIL is the price and its availability date.
