It’s Not Just Chicago–Baltimore Troubled By Red Light Cams Too

So for those of you who thought that Chicago might be the only one with a problem with their traffic camera operations, you can put that out of your head right now.  Seems Baltimore is also stepping up and saying enough is enough.

The Baltimore County chapter of Americans for Prosperity filed ethics complains over one of the county’s executives.  The complaint alleges that that county executive was trying to negotiate a contract to get speeding cameras leased before the county council had even approved of their use.

Talk about your cart before the horse scenarios–they had a guy trying to buy the cameras before cameras were even approved for use!  Sure, that guy could turn around and say he was just trying to be efficient since he’d known they would pass anyway, but that sort of begs the question, how did he know?  Suppose he’d be in a good place to know, being on the council and all, but still–from the sounds of things there’ll be some open jobs in Baltimore pretty soon.
