JVC Announces New Everio–Five Hundred Bucks Worth

I’ve had the opportunity to review several JVC Everio camcorders, and I can tell you this much, they’re EXCELLENT camcorders.  But a new Everio, just announced a short time ago, just might be the best one yet.

It’s the JVC Everio GZ-HM340, and it’ll be available later this month at a cost of about five hundred bucks.  This is about midrange for what I’ve seen camcorder prices at, and there’s a good reason, it’s got plenty of options involved.

Now, it’s got all the things you’d expect out of a JVC Everio, including the one-touch YouTube, iPod and iPhone upload capabilities, but it’s also packing plenty of new stuff.  It’s set to have fully sixteen gigs of onboard memory, or roughly the equivalent of four DVDs.  It also offers a 20x optical zoom, image stabilizer, and support for SD cards as well, expanding its memory even further and allowing you to switch on the fly.  Plus it offers something called “Face Flow Thumbnail”, which “displays thumbnails of your videos by using human faces automatically cropped from sections of your video.”

Pretty exciting stuff, no doubt, and likely worth the five hundred.  But will you be interested in getting hands on this one?
