Kodak Playsport 1442012 Camcorder Review–A Lot Better Than You’d Expect
I’ve never been very fond of the small personal camcorders. They don’t offer anywhere near the utility of full sized camcorders, and they often ask the same price as full sized camcorders. But today’s review target, the Kodak Playsport 1442102, is just a little bit different from those.
The Kodak Playsport 1442012 camcorder can shoot video under ten feet of water, and offers five megapixel resolution in digital still mode, a two inch LCD monitor with glare shielding for outdoor video, USB port for easy uploading, HDMI port with cable for viewing images on any HDTV with HDMI, face tracking technology, low-light shooting capability, slow motion playback capability, support for the Secure Digital line of memory cards, and ArcSoft Media Impression editing software.
Admittedly, the controls here are pretty simple–it’s hard for them not to be. They fit into a really small space so there’s not even a lot of room for complexity. And the utility is actually pretty healthy too–this is a portable camera that’s on par with a lot of others. The zoom seemed a bit short, but that’s par for the course, really. And best off, the price; Best Buy is selling these at a hundred and thirty five dollars.
The Kodak Playsport 1442012 is a highly portable and yet fully functional camcorder, at a pretty good price besides. If you’re looking for something lightweight and easy to move around without shelling out big for a lot of missing features, this one just might be what you need.
