Kodak retires Kodachrome color film

After 74-years as a “photography icon” Kodak has announced that they will be retiring their Kodachrome line of color film.

As stated in the press release Kodachrome Film was the world’s first commercially successful color film upon its introduction in 1935. However, as technology progressed photographers moved away from the classic film to newer lines of film which leads to Kodachrome remaining as just a fraction of 1% of total still-picture film sales for Kodak.

While Kodachrome is sure to be remembered as a classic, discontinuing the line is evidentally a smart idea on Kodak’s part.
