KODAK V603 Camera Review
Another camera to be reviewed by Steve’s Digicam recently was the KODAK EASYSHARE V603 Zoom wins brownie points for its cool design, its compact form factor and the onboard KODAK Color Science image processor. However the LCD was prone to fingerprints and there was some amount of chromatic aberration (purple fringing in highlight areas) in some images.
The V603 is a 6.1 megapixel camera with a Schneider-Kreuznach C-Variogon lens that offers up to 3x optical zoom. The camera has a 2.5" large LCD screen and includes the Kodak Perfect Touch technology which lets you preview and do in camera processing of images right there and you don’t need a PC. The digicam has a video mode too which is capable of recording footage at 30 frames-per-second, producing TV-quality images in MPEG4 format. One can extend the memory via the SD memory card. Metering options include multipattern, center weighted, and center spot, and multizone or center-zone autofocus. White-balance choices include auto, daylight, tungsten, fluorescent, and open shade.
The review concludes "Bottom line - Kodak has created an appealing digital package with the EasyShare V603. With great image quality, robust performance, and loads of "cool" exposure modes and features, the V603 will make a great choice for anyone who wants a simple to use 6-megapixel model that can be tucked away in almost any size pocket or handbag. And, with a retail price of US$299 or less, it offers great "bang for your buck".
