Leica M9 and X1 Digital Cameras Now Official
After days of leaks and rumors, Leica finally unveiled the much anticipated Leica M9 and X1 digital cameras. Both cameras were officially released today, sporting an old-school look oozing with the standard features we see from digital cameras out in the market.
The Leica M9 has a whopping 18MP image sensor which allows shooters to capture full 35mm film formats and use all M lenses. As leaked earlier, the M9 will be encased in a black with steel-grey finish. It has a shutter speed of 1/4000 of a second and will begin shipping to the UK today. It will reportedly retail for £4,850.
As for the Leica X1, it is smaller than the M9 with a 12.2 MP image sensor. It features a 2.7” rear LCD and supports up to ISO 3200. Shutter speed is said to be at 1/2000 and will begin shipping by January, 2010. No word on pricing for now.
