Lens aperture recorded in slow motion




The video above shows an aperture on the Canon 18-55 mm moving when a photo is taken — recorded with at 120 frames per second, and yet, the aperture is still too fast to see exactly how it works. The video is almost hypnotic. If you want to see a slower version, at 240 frames per second, check out the second video after the break, which shows a much smoother aperture moving.

It’s interesting that this happens every single time a photo is taken — and the aperture is rated to handle hundreds of thousands of such exposures at such speed. Incredible.
