Nanotechnology for Better Images?

The University of Glasgow has a team of scientists ready to improve the way we’re going to take pictures in the near future. They will be working with nanostructures in the metal film on the CMOS which should be increasing the sensitivity of the sensor and therefore we should expect better images.

This whole nanotechnology research will be possible thanks to a huge grant from the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council. The scientists will have £489,234 at their disposal to play with those nano things. We’re only going to see the results in 2012 though so we’re going to have to wait a lot to see the new technology in action.
