New eASIC eDV9200 H.264 Will Bring HD to Any Device

If HD is what we want, HD is what we’re going to get no matter if we talk about cameras, camcorders or other devices. And there’s a new codec which promises to bring all that HD to our devices. That’s the eASIC eDV9200 H.264 codec which will be able to deliver HD quality to wireless webcams, wireless video surveillance, baby monitors and others. The eDV9200 will “dramatically lower the cost of entry into the high-definition video market, enabling a new class of low-cost applications to fully leverage the benefits offered by HD technology.”
The chip will get streaming data from a CMOS sensor, it compresses it and then transfers it to a host systems. The chip will cost $4.99 so we’ll be waiting for it to be installed soon in various gadgets.
