New OLED Mini Projector Coming Soon?

Mini projectors are growing in popularity and we should see more and more devices created in the immediate future. One of those could be an OLED mini projector made for mobile phones.

The Fraunhofer Institute together with HYPOLED has been working on this prototype and what’s particularly amazing about it is that it doesn’t require an illumination system. It has a lens system which will project images coming from an OLED to a screen or wall. The prototype can display a monochrome image with a brightness of 10,000 candelas per square meter or color images for 5,000 candelas per square meters. We have no idea when such a projector will be available but I guess we have to wait a while to get it. In the mean time the developers are working on replacing the glass lenses with plastic ones. We’ll keep you updated once we know more ourselves.
