Newest Red Light Camera Sighting? Miami.
Bad news for the residents of Miami–you’ll be on candid camera starting…well…last week, and the prices for showing up are absolutely HUGE.
Dave Barry, one of my personal favorite humor writers (and Dave, on the off chance you actually read this you pretty much got me started in nonfiction writing, so thank you–boogers were your beat, and technology is mine), often remarked that South Florida drivers have a tendency to be a little, well, rambunctuous behind the wheel (he once remarked that sixty five miles per hour was the speed limit normally observed inside car washes in Miami) so the City of Miami is probably going to clean up like New York City Streets and Sanitation at New Years’ with this one.
Check out the fines and penalties for getting caught on traffic camera in Miami!
Drivers will now be fined $125 for the first infraction, $250 for the second and $500 for any infraction after that.
Of course, if Dave’s also right about the number of people in Miami who are armed, then I don’t expect this to last long as traffic cam sniping will be Miami’s new sport of choice….
