NXP’s SnapSpot GPS Chip In Cameras Soon

NXPGPS.JPGNXP’s SnapSpot GPS Chip was seen at the PMA which looks extremely promising. The chip as the name suggest has GPS-based geo-tagging capability which means many digicams in the future will have it in built.

The chip measures around 5mm and would be pretty cost effect since it would only cost around $2-$4. The SnapShot chip wales up when you click an image and then goes back to sleep after downloading the raw GPS satellite data. Then the computer emits the data to a NXP server and delivers the good! Cool isn't it? Lets just hope it doesn't remain a pipe dream.
