Sharp was in the news recently as it has been able to successfully develop a a five megapixel CCD and a 3x optical linear zoom lens for mobile phones. This is a big step in the mobile imaging world and the new LZ0P3770 module is the first camera module that features an inner zoom for mobile phones. One will also come across features like; auto focus, smear-reduction, a mechanical shutter and a high refractive hybrid lens which consists of glass and plastic elements. Sharp would start shipping the module from Jan 2007.
