According to Engadget, there are plenty of rumors circulating out there about the upcoming Nikon D3100. Word on the street is that this camera might be packing 1080p video capacity and continuous auto focus. Interestingly enough, Nikon has planned an official press event on August 19, perhaps for giving actual confirmation concerning the D3100′s specifications, price and release date.

Meanwhile, a recent report from Nikon Rumors revealed that “SKU 1222817″ has appeared up in Best Buy’s database coupled with the description “Nikon D3100 DSLR w/ 18-55mm v” and a September 18 release date. However, there was no pricing information found for the new Nikon camera on the database. Nonetheless, Engadget admits that they haven’t actually read the information from the Best Buy database. But it seems that the blog can’t hold back their excitement at the possibility of the Nikon D3100 camera soon to be on the way.
