Nikon D700 Camera of the Year
Britain’s Amateur Photographer has named Nikon’s D700 camera as Camera of the Year. The D700 scooped high-end DSLR of the year, beating two competitive models with higher pixel counts, Canon’s EOS 1DS MARK III and the Sony Alpha 900. The D700 builds on the body and the success of Nikon’s D300. Released in the summer of 2008, the professional grade DSLR camera is designed to include some of the ease of point and shoot with all the advanced features a user would expect of a high end DSLR camera.
The D700 is the first DSLR camera offered by Nikon with a built-in flash, and includes several improvements over standard features on the D300 such as image Sensor cleaning (’sensor shake’), more flexible ‘hard button’ programming, virtual horizon in Live View and different DX mode indication on the focusing screen. The Nikon D700 retails for around $2999.
