Nikon announced the Nikon S200 which is housed in an extremely thin aluminum casing (18.5mm) which gives it a touch of sophistication and style. The Nikon S200 has a 7.1 effective megapixels resolution and has been equipped with a 38-114mm (35mm equivalent) 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens. According to Nikon the lens is versatile enough to capture “panoramic landscapes” and “close-up portraits” .

The Nikon S200 has an internal memory of 20MB and one also comes across a SD Card slot. The on board Electronic VR (Vibration Reduction) compensates for camera shake and combats image blur. The digicam also includes a 2.5-inch LCD with anti-reflection coating and one also comes across in-camera functions like; Face-priority AF, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, and D-Lighting. Light sensitivity can be manually set as high as ISO 1000 and in High Sensitivity mode, the ISO setting is automatically adjusted from ISO 50 to as high as ISO 1000. Via D-Lighting one can improve underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight.

The Nikon S200 digicam has a choice of 15 Scene Modes and Macro shooting enables shooting from as close as 10cm (3.9 in.). One capture movies in diff aspects like; V movie (640) at 30fps, Small size (320) at 30fps/15fps, Smaller size (160) at 15fps; Without sound: Time-lapse movie at 30fps, Stop-motion (640).

The Nikon S200 ships with a complimentary copy of Nikon’s exclusive PictureProject software. and includes Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL10, Battery Charger MH-63, USB Cable UC-E6, Audio Video Cable EG-CP14. No word on pricing or availability.
