Nikon unveiled the new Nikon DS-Qi1 Monochrome Digital Camera, an ultra high-quality scientific grade digital camera ideal for quantitative fluorescence imaging. The new camera is equipped with a monochrome CCD and includes an 1.3-megapixel CCD which can capture images at 1280x1024 pixels resolutions.

One also comes across a 17,000 electron full well capacity with eight electron read noise for a dynamic range of over 2000:1 and a programmable gain amplifier for low-light levels, or for shorter exposures. The DS-Qi1 also comes bundled with a DS-U2 controller and thus live images can be viewed, recorded, measured, processed, and analyzed on a PC monitor .
