Nikon Instruments recently announced its entry into Digital Sight line of cameras for microscopy. Under this lineage the company has introduced the DS-Ri1 camera, specially designed for high resolution color documentation function. The Microscopy camera DS-Ri1 employs quick focusing up to 19 and also DS-Ri1 is one among seven camera heads and two controllers in the total of 14 grouping in the Nikon Digital Sight series facilitating users to opt the camera which suits best for their function.

This model of Nikon, DS-Ri1 is considered perfect for brightfield or cross-over applications wherein high resolution, immense color fidelity and large pixel count images are usually required by the user. The camera supports native format of 1280x1024 pixels with 6.45um pixels.

Furthermore, the new DS-Ri1 comprise of 12 bit per channel output for 36 bit color images. According to the company this camera is also good for low magnification thus connecting to PCs via USB2 interfaces for easy installation and trouble free configuration. The DS-Ri1 camera model is fully operational and is controlled with industry much-admired NIS-Elements software. No word on the pricing yet.
