Olympus FE-4000 Camera Review–Better Than Expected

Olympus seems to have a dismaying habit of making a lot of their cameras unsettlingly similar to each other, but this has an unexpected consequence: if one has a problem, the problems seem to carry over several brands.  This is the case with the Olympus FE-4000, which seems to have about the same problems as we talked about in our review of the Olympus 550WP, though in lesser quantities and degrees.

The Olympus FE-4000, meanwhile, is a twelve megapixel camera with a 2.7 inch LCD display, a 4x optical zoom, the capability to edit images on the fly in-camera; red-eye fix, lighting fix, resizing and cropping.

It’s not that the Olympus FE-4000, like the 550WP, is a BAD camera, it’s just not the best of values.  I’ve seen some pretty sweet models for not a whole lot of money Though I’ll admit that this one is actually somewhat better than the others, especially if you’ve got an Amazon Visa.  They’re selling this one for right around sixty bucks if you buy with the card.  Of course, without the card it’s about ninety bucks, but that’s still a pretty good price, even if there aren’t a whole lot of add-ons with this one.

If you’re looking for a good entry-level model, you definitely could do worse than this one.
