Olympus FE-4030 Digital Camera Review–Simple Is Actually Pretty Good

Sometimes simple is best, and in the case of the Olympus FE-4030, that’s going to be an example that’ll prove out nicely.  Simple is best, and this Olympus is pretty simple.  It works well, and it’ll do most any job you like of it for a very little investment.

The Olympus FE-4030 is a fourteen megapixel camera that offers a 4x optical and matching 4x digital zoom, a 2.7 inch LCD monitor, TruePic III image processor, digital image stabilization, face detection, fully twenty two scene modes and several white balance modes, auto focus with AF tracking, auto flash, video mode, forty six megs of onboard memory with support for the Secure Digital line of memory cards and a USB port.

Image processors don’t show up on just any camera, it seems, and there’s plenty of other options here to make most any amateur to moderately experienced camera user happy.  The controls aren’t too tough to operate, and though the zoom isn’t the longest, the pictures look pretty good.  It’s safe to call this a good camera, though not a great camera.

And the price is pretty good too, especially for a camera that can’t be called great–a hundred and thirty bucks is all Best Buy wants for this.  That’s a really good price for a camera offering this much.

So if you’re in the market for a new digital camera, one you’ll certainly want a look at is the Olympus FE-4030.  It’s got a lot going for it, and not much trouble, either.
