Olympus Pen E-P1 Micro Four Thirds Ad

The video above is an ad for Olympus’ Pen E-P1 Micro Four Thirds camera. The Pen story shown in the video above was created by stitching together some 9600 prints with the help of stop motion animation.

Unfortunately the concept behind the ad is not that original. Apparently the same stop motion animation concept was used before in a video called “Stop motion with wolf and pig”. Did Olympus steal the idea? It was only a matter of time until someone figured it out! Here’s that wolf and pig video:

Here’s what the YouTube description of the E-P1 Micro Four Thirds ad says:

This is the PEN Story in stop motion. We shot 60.000 pictures, developed 9.600 prints and shot over 1.800 pictures again. No post production! Thanks to all the stop motion artists who inspired us. We hope you enjoy :-) Song & Lyrics by Johannes Stankowski Produced and Arranged by Michael Kadelbach.

It does mention “stop motion artists” but that doesn’t necessarily mean Olympus is talking about the wolf and pig video!

Which video do you like best?
