DSLR Review: Olympus E-400
Another website to review the fairly new Olympus E-400 DSLR is Camera Labs who like the camera for its; compact form factor, its effective anti-dust system , the fact that it is the highest resolution Four Thirds body so far and the easy interface. What they didn't like was the image noise, the motorized manual focus and the right strap eyelet which digs into your hand.
The Olympus E-400 is the world's smallest and lightest 10 megapixel Digital SLR and apart from an impressive 10.2 megapixel resolution is also based on the 4/3rds Standard. The Olympus E-400 is outfitted with a 2.5 inch LCD monitor and includes 31 special shooting modes like Fireworks, Landscapes, Macro, and Sunsets. To protect the ever fragile CCD there is Supersonic Wave Filter for dust protection and the TruePic TURBO image processor ensures vibrant and vivid images. Some other features found on the DSLR include; 3fps with up to five images in RAW buffer, Depth of field preview function, JPEG & RAW recording, AF-lock functionality, Exposure Bracketing function and One touch white balance.
The review ends on a positive note and says "Ultimately while the E-400’s key rivals can work out cheaper from some dealers, it still easily earns itself a Highly Recommended rating. The quality and controls are very good, the compact body is extremely portable without compromising handling, and the SSWF remains the only anti-dust system we’ve tested which seems genuinely effective. The E-400 will equally appeal to first-time DSLR buyers and experienced photographers who want a compact body with decent creative control."
