Olympus SP510 UZ Digital Camera Review

Olympus big 2.jpgMegapixels has reviewed the Olympus SP510 UZ Digital Camera and give it brownie points for its RAW mode, its ESP metering, its white balance settings, its image quality, its 10x optical zoom, its capture modes and its ergonomics. However the camera was found to be sensitive to noise, lacked image stabilization and has a week flash.

Thew Olympus SP510 UZ Digital Camera has a 7 MP resolution and includes features like 10x Optical zoom (equiv. to 38-380mm on a 35mm model) and a nifty Fine Zoom option which boosts magnification to an exceptional 15x. If you are keeping score this means, a total focal range of 38-570mm (on a 35mm camera). However the 15x is only possible in 3 MP resolutions! The camera includes a 6.4cm LCD which according to the company is 4 times faster and brighter than the traditional LCD. The camera also has a feature called Bright Capture Movie setting which lets you automatically adjusts the settings when you go from bright light to dark light or vice versa. Other features include; 21 pre-defined scene modes, numerous manual control options, Movie Mode, xD-Picture Card slot among others.

The website in the end writes "Overall the ergonomic design of the Olympus SP-510 UZ is very similar to that of the SP-500 UZ: the camera has a good in-hand feel, and the controls are positioned practically and naturally, an important thing on such a small camera. Moreover, the SP-510 UZ, in addition to its increased resolution, benefits from a number of improvements, both internally and externally. Some of these, such as the addition of a Function menu, and the the use of the 4-direction control to provide a means for extra settings, are particularly welcome."
