OMG Producing Camera To Help Alzheimer’s Victims
I know it sounds odd, a company called OMG (Oxford Media Group) producing a camera to help people suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, but it’s true, and actually, it’s a pretty sweet idea.
It’s coupled together with Microsoft to produce a small, wearable camera–smaller than an iPod–that will take pictures of the Alzheimer’s patient’s day at regular intervals. Then, at night, the patient can settle in and see their day in pictures.
This serves the purpose of helping to reinforce the memories–first they experience them, and then they see them again in a photographic record. I’m in favor of pretty much anything that gives Alzheimer’s patients a bump in their neurological activity, and this kind of experience at least sounds like it’d do the trick.
Hopefully it’ll work as well as it seems like it would, because the sooner we can kill off Alzheimer’s Disease for good, the better. And if a camera’s involved, well, that gets our vote!
