OmniVision TrueFocus Camera

OmniVision, a semiconductor company, has unveiled a 3 megapixel camera phone lens that simply allows you to snap away as you please without waiting for focus at the 3GSM conference. The camera tidies up the image later and makes sure it is in focus.

The product effectively targets the mobile handset market, as it is small; durable; easy to manufacture and integrate into existing handset ranges; and cost-competitive. The lens has no moving parts and is therefore less likely to malfunction than traditional lenses thanks to its Wavefront Coding.

Wavefront Coding is a method of optically encoding light to form an immediate images and then using digital processing to decode the image and create a final image that is in focus across the whole picture.
