Panasonic SDR-H85K Camcorder Review–Solid Value And Plenty of Features

Panasonic offers a wide array of quality cameras, and today’s real target will prove no exception–the SDR-H85K from Panasonic is a pretty nice deal, even for the price you’ll pay to get one.

The Panasonic SDR-H85K camcorder comes with an astonishing array of features, like a peculiar 78x optical zoom, but a downright frightening 3500x digital zoom for backup.  You’ll get some much more standard features like a 2.7 inch LCD monitor, Advanced Optical Image Stabilization systems, a variety of white balance modes, the IA mode that adjusts settings according to conditions, still picture shooting ability (and it can even record video WHILE taking stills!), both stereo and zoom microphones, an eighty gig hard drive with compatibility with Secure Digital memory cards, a USB port and editing software.

You can see where there’s a lot to like here–lots of the standard features are in play, along with some new hotness that makes this one a really interesting model to take a look at.  The controls take a little getting used to, but this isn’t much of a hassle alongside this kind of utility.  The range looks like over a hundred feet as I can reckon it, and with plenty of storage, this is definitely a prime model.

Of course, they’ll charge like a prime model, too–Best Buy wants three hundred and fifty bucks for one of these.  Admittedly, that’s not too out of line, especially given what you get, but that’s still quite a bit of cash to lay out for a relative nonessential like a camcorder.

Still, you could definitely do a lot worse than the Panasonic SDR-H85K, and if you’re in the market for a new camcorder, this is definitely one to pick up and try.
